Context
Trulli are iconic traditional Apulian dry stone huts with conical roofs, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage. The objective of this project was to design an interior for this highly unusual architectural form, turning it into a premium living space (akin to a boutique hotel) while strictly preserving its historical DNA and the unique atmosphere of the Mediterranean climate.

The Challenge
The primary challenge was achieving absolute authenticity. Working with the atypical, curved geometry of a trullo required a delicate approach to integrating modern luxury elements, such as an indoor mini-pool. It was critical to avoid any artificiality in the materials; the stone, the lighting, and the flora had to reflect the harsh yet beautiful reality of the region.

The Solution & Impact
To ensure the design was grounded in reality, I conducted extensive research into the history of trulli, traditional dry-stone masonry techniques, and modern restoration practices for historical buildings. The interior strategy focuses on tactile authenticity: emphasizing the raw texture of local stone, capturing the warmth of Mediterranean sunlight, and carefully selecting endemic plant species. The result is a space that respects its ancient origins while offering a sophisticated, high-end spatial experience.
